Enforcement Policy

Last updated: April 24, 2026

This Enforcement Policy describes how StormLock conducts copyright enforcement activities on behalf of content owners. Our approach is designed to be thorough, legally compliant, and respectful of due process.

1. Authorization

1.1 Agent Authorization

StormLock acts as an authorized agent on behalf of content owners who have registered their works on our platform. By registering content, you grant StormLock the authority to:

  • Monitor digital platforms for unauthorized copies of your content
  • File takedown notices and legal demands on your behalf
  • Communicate with platform operators regarding infringement
  • Escalate enforcement actions through legal channels when necessary

1.2 Scope of Authorization

Our authorization is limited to the specific content registered on our platform. We do not take enforcement action on content that has not been verified and registered by the rightful owner or their authorized representative.

2. Compliance

2.1 Legal Standards

All enforcement actions are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, including:

  • The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) — United States
  • The EU Copyright Directive (2019/790)
  • The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 — United Kingdom
  • Equivalent copyright protection laws in other jurisdictions

2.2 Platform Compliance

We work within each platform's established notice-and-takedown procedures. Our enforcement team maintains direct relationships with trust and safety teams at major platforms to ensure efficient processing of legitimate claims.

2.3 Accuracy Standards

Every enforcement action undergoes verification to minimize false positives. Our multi-stage review process includes automated content matching, confidence scoring, and human review for edge cases.

3. Legal Framework

3.1 Enforcement Escalation

Our enforcement follows a graduated approach:

  • Level 1 — Notice: Standard DMCA/takedown notice filed with the hosting platform
  • Level 2 — Escalation: Direct communication with platform trust and safety teams for unresolved cases
  • Level 3 — Legal Action: Referral to legal counsel for persistent or large-scale infringement
  • Level 4 — Litigation Support: Evidence gathering and documentation for court proceedings

3.2 Evidence Preservation

StormLock maintains detailed records of all enforcement actions, including timestamps, screenshots, URLs, and communication logs. This evidence chain is preserved in compliance with legal standards and is available for use in legal proceedings.

3.3 Due Process

We respect the rights of all parties involved. Counter-notifications are processed promptly, and we do not pursue enforcement against content that has been verified as authorized or falling under fair use provisions.

4. Reporting

Content owners receive regular enforcement reports including:

  • Number of infringements detected and actions taken
  • Platform-by-platform breakdown of enforcement activity
  • Success rates and resolution timelines
  • Trend analysis and recommendations
